Primary Purpose of the Role
Mediclinic Bloemfontein is looking for a Reception Administrator support patients through the full admission and discharge process in a professional and efficient manner. The role also involves managing potential operational and financial risks while delivering excellent service that exceeds client expectations.

Key Responsibilities
The role of the Reception Administrator involves the following duties and responsibilities to be fulfilled:
- Accurately capture and process patient admissions and pre-admission bookings in line with set procedures.
- Minimize financial risk by strictly following relevant policies and protocols.
- Execute an efficient discharge process as outlined in the Patient Administration Manual.
- Uphold strict patient confidentiality at all times.

Education Requirements
Applicants will be required to meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for this role:
- Essential: Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Preferred: None.
Experience Requirements
- Essential: No prior experience required.
- Preferred: Experience in reception administration and working in a private healthcare setting.

Essential Skills and Knowledge
- Familiarity with the Debtpack Enquiry system to verify if patients are flagged (e.g., blacklisted)
- Understanding of admissions, bed allocations, discharge procedures, and preparation for upcoming patient bookings.
- Basic anatomical terms and concepts.
- Knowledge of hospital switchboard operations.
- Strong grasp of patient administration policies and procedures (e.g., confidentiality, handling cash, managing blacklisted cases, bed overrides).
- Experience with AS400 system and relevant admin programs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of ICD and CPT coding systems.
- Awareness of medical aid schemes and the private healthcare sector.
- Familiarity with WCA (Workman’s Compensation Act) guidelines and processes.
- Ability to follow emergency protocols (e.g., fire, theft, flooding).
- Skill in identifying potential financial risks, including how to manage blacklisted patients or handle patient valuables.
